Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine incorporates more than just acupuncture.  Here in the West when people hear about TCM the first thought is acupuncture, however traditionally Chinese medicine would involve living according to the seasons adjusting the diet and activities accordingly.  If illness developed changes would be made to the diet and lifestyle to restore health.  Herbal medicine would be the next line of treatment followed by acupuncture. Chinese medicine also includes many different modalities for creating optimal health and curing disease.  Acupuncture is the most common along with herbal teas or tinctures.  In addition there is cupping, moxibustion, tui na, qi gong, tai chi plus other types of needling such as scalp and ear acupuncture.  Visit the the page on TCM Philosophy to learn more.
